Leah Berdysz: Empowered & Poised
My name is Leah Berdysz and I am the CEO & Founder of Empowered & Poised LLC. Empowered & Poised is a girls wellness and empowerment program that was birthed out of my own experiences with insecurities and anxiety.
I am blessed beyond measure. I have a wonderful family and friends who support me through my challenges. I also had the opportunity to receive my BA from John Carroll University in Exercise Science and Entrepreneurship. While studying at JCU my passion for overall wellness grew. I realized that it is important to be physically, mentally, and emotionally fit in order to be truly happy. Sadly, I also realized that not everyone is as fortunate as I have been. Therefore, I wanted to create a movement and programming that supports girls and helps them feel confident and believe in themselves even when they struggle like I did. I want to empower girls to seek help when they are struggling and realize that this does not mean they are weak, but rather, they are strong.
Creating Empowered & Poised meant that I could make a positive difference in the lives of others. I could share my passion for overall wellness to empower and educate girls on how to be beautiful from the inside out. Empowered & Poised has grown into a supportive community, where females can share their stories, learn, and have a platform for their voices to be heard. I continue to keep an open mind and heart when it comes to the growth of Empowered & Poised, so that I am able to provide the best platform and programming to help young women thrive.
Additionally, my desire to support girls rooted from my years of experience working with girls through coaching, teaching, and mentoring. While my mission to empower and educate girls on how to be beautiful from the inside out through discovery of social, mental, and physical well-being has not changed since I started Empowered & Poised in 2017, I am excited to share that since starting Empowered & Poised I have decided to go back to school in the fall to obtain a master’s degree in social work. With this degree I plan to continue to empower and educate girls on overall wellness and begin to work with them on a more clinical level.
Through my experience creating this movement I have become more Empowered & Poised. Being Empowered & Poised means having the confidence to be your authentic self. An Empowered & Poised individual strives to be physically, mentally, and socially fit, and encourages and motivates others to do the same. Being Empowered & Poised means loving yourself and giving yourself the same grace that you would to your very best friend. I try my best to practice everything that I preach but am not too proud to share that I am human and am flawed. Since founding Empowered & Poised, I believe that I have become kinder and more forgiving to myself, just as I would hope any other Empowered & Poised girl does. I have learned that out of our failures we learn and grow, and I have learned that patience and resilience are necessary to become a successful entrepreneur.
Therefore, my best advice to a young female entrepreneur who wants to make a difference is to be your authentic self and build a strong network. You are capable of anything you set your mind to, but first you must believe in yourself!
Now, I realize that being Empowered & Poised also means being a part of a community. Empowered & Poised is a community of strong women and girls as well as those who support strong women and girls. It is community built of individuals who care about others, are courageous enough to be authentic and vulnerable, and want to make a positive difference in the larger community. We all realize that we are stronger together. I am beyond grateful for each individual who has become a part of the movement by signing up for our newsletter, attending an event, volunteering, and/or contributing to our blogging platform.
Empowered & Poised hosts a blog on our website that gives individuals the opportunity to let their voice be heard. If you or anyone you know is interested in sharing your story do not hesitate to reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your story matters!
